Smush Parker was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 1, 1981. He went to Queens’ Newtown High School, where he was a standout guard on the basketball team.
He subsequently enrolled as a freshman at the College of Southern Idaho for the 1999-2000 season before transferring to Fordham University the following year.

Smush Parker NBA Career
Parker entered the NBA draft in 2002 but was passed over. For the 2002–03 season, he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers and appeared in 66 games, averaging 6.2 points and 2.5 assists per game.
He then played for Aris Thessaloniki in Greece, where he won the Greek Cup in 2004. In 2004, he returned to the NBA and played for the Detroit Pistons and the Phoenix Suns, but he did not see much action.
In the summer of 2005, he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, which changed the course of his career. Under coach Phil Jackson, he became the Lakers’ starting point guard and played alongside Kobe Bryant, one of the league’s top players.

Parker also fought with Jackson, who benched him in the 2007 playoffs in favor of rookie Jordan Farmar. Parker left the Lakers at the end of the 2006–07 season to join the Miami Heat. Before being moved to the Los Angeles Clippers, he appeared in only nine games for the Heat. With the Clippers, he finished the season with 4.5 points and 2.2 assists per game.

Smush Parker Post-NBA Career
Parker left the NBA following the 2007–08 season. He played in leagues in China, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Croatia, Greece, and Tunisia, among others.
He also played for the Idaho Stampede and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA D-League. In 2018, he was a member of the Albany Patroons of the North American Premier Basketball League.
