The son of boxing legend Roberto Duran suffered a devastating knockout loss on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou.

Roberto Duran Jr carried a 12-3 professional boxing record into his fight with undefeated Liverpudlian Jack McGann in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia on Saturday night.

Both men had a tentative round one and not much happened through three minutes.

In round two, the fight burst into life when McGann landed a clean left hook on Duran Jr’s chin and sent a man who had never been stopped crashing to the canvas.

The 35-year-old bravely got back to his feet but stumbled twice and was clearly in no state to continue before the referee mercifully waved off the bout.

McGann, who is a former MMA star backed by actors Tom Hardy and Stephen Graham, improved his record to 9-0-1 and will now move on to another big fight.

In March, he won his first boxing belt when he stopped Laszlo Toth to pick up an IBO strap.

'The Pilgrim' was recently approved by The British Boxing Board of Control as the mandatory challenger for the super-welterweight title currently held by 17-2 fighter Samuel Antwi.

McGann is expected to face Antwi by the end of March 2024.

Duran Jr’s future is a lot less unclear after a fourth professional defeat.
